Hospice Volunteer – Patient, Family & Program Support

WITH VICTORIA HOSPICE SOCIETY

Summary

Victoria Hospice provides end-of-life care and bereavement support to patients and families in the Greater Victoria area. Volunteers are an essential part of this care, offering comfort and companionship to patients, assisting families during difficult times, and supporting staff with practical tasks. Roles can include visiting patients at home or in care facilities, helping with administrative projects, assisting at fundraising events, or contributing to grief support programs.

Training is provided to ensure volunteers feel confident in their roles and supported in the sensitive nature of hospice care. Many volunteers describe their service as profoundly meaningful, as it allows them to be present with people at a pivotal stage of life while also supporting families and the broader community. By joining the team, volunteers help uphold Victoria Hospice’s mission of compassionate, comprehensive end-of-life care.
